Harry Tincknell racing at Donington Park on 29-30 September 2012 secured victory during the final race weekend of the 2012 Cooper Tyres British F3 International Series at Donington Park to earn an impressive top-five championship finish.
“It’s great to be able to end the season on a high,” said Harry. “Fifth in the championship and my fourth race win of the season have capped a good year. I knew I had to finish strongly to overtake Carlos in the title standings. I’m delighted I was able to claim those all-important points.”
The win (pictured above) came on a dramatic end to season in which Jack Harvey secured the championship and topped a strong season for Harry.
Having worked with Carlin Racing over the course of the season, Harry tweeted recently: “I’ve learnt an incredible amount this season @CarlinRacing and want to thank everyone for all their hard work and dedication. #Thankyouboys”.
Here’s the 2012 season in focus:
- Top 5 finish in the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series
- Four season wins and a further five podium places
- Received the Raymond Mays Trophy on the last day of the season, awarded by the Donington Park Racing Association Club. Previous winners of the trophy include Jamie Green, Mike Conway and Jason Plato.
Next up the Macau Grand Prix
Following the F3 season finale, Harry confirmed he will be entering the prestigious Macau Grand Prix on 16-18 November 2012, where he will be looking to add his name to a list of winners that includes multiple Formula One World Champions Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna.
Harry is to return to Fortec Motorsport for the Macau Grand Prix: “Every year Macau is tough, but it’s a new [Fortec] car this year so that minimises the disadvantage. It’s very exciting to go with Fortec, especially as they seem very good on low-downforce tracks.”
Harry, who is mentored by Audi sportscar star Allan McNish, added: “Allan wanted me to go for the experience of doing it. He said it made him a better driver.”
